These mechanisms may involve the reorganization of the actomyosin cytoskeleton since our data demonstrate a robust assembly of basal F-actin stress fibers in anillin-depleted breast cancer cells (Fig. 5c) and a complete reversal of the attenuated wound healing of anillin-depleted cells by NM II inhibition (Additional file 9: Figure S8).
