Secondary outcomes are: mean weekly weight gain, changes in dietary intake and physical activity, changes in the biochemical profile of the pregnant women (fasting glucose, fasting insulin, total cholesterol and cholesterol fractions, triglycerides and C-reactive protein), complications in the pregnancy (gestational diabetes mellitus, hypertensive disorders and prematurity), birth weight, neonatal adiposity, and weight and length/height of the children at 6, 12 and 24 months of age. Here, CRP is linked to gestational diabetes.
