Given that the majority (>80%) of melanocytic nevi express mutant BRAF (usually BRAFV600E) [37], and a prior chemoprevention study of ASA and colon cancer concluded that ASA may only be protective against BRAF wild-type colon cancers [38], we examined whether ASA-mediated suppression of PGE2 in nevi was related to BRAF mutation status.
