Related experiments performed by Gabrusiewicz and colleagues [40] showed that exosomes, isolated among the EVs released by the GBM cell line U87 and by GSCs, mainly target monocytes to induce reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton and the immune suppressive M2 phenotype, with the secretion of cytokines such as monocyte-chemotactic protein 3 (MCP-3) and chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (CXCL1), and the expression of the programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL1 and glioblastoma.
