In this study, the expression pattern of EpCAM was found changed in the LSG acinar cells of pSS patients, and the IHC scores of membranous and cytoplasmic EpEX/EpICD had high sensitivity (70-80%) and specificity (85-95%) in diagnosis for pSS, supporting that IHC scores of subcellular EpCAM had a potential to act as diagnostic biomarkers, which would probably facilitate to make more accurate and earlier diagnosis. The gene discussed is EPCAM; the disease is peeling skin syndrome.
