A literature search revealed a study in which high-fat-diet-fed pregnant mice exhibited significantly worse glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity than control diet-fed pregnant mice, as shown by their elevated blood glucose levels, fasting serum insulin levels, and HOMA-IR, which were also increased in the HF group compared with the CTRL group; moreover, researchers have successfully fed mice a high-fat diet to induce preeclampsia [29–31].
