Indeed, Evans et al recently demonstrated that PD‐1 blockade prior to in vitro HIV infection decreased the frequency of latently HIV‐infected cells in their in vitro model of HIV latency, highlighting the potential of ICIs blockade to disrupt latency.130 In addition, we recently observed that PD‐1/PDL‐1 interactions strongly inhibited TCR‐mediated reactivation of HIV transcription and viral production from lymph nodes memory CD4 T cells.
