In tunicamycin-induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress mouse insulinoma cells (NIT-1), treatment with tyrosol (25 and 50 μg/mL for 48 h) was shown to downregulate the expression of stress-related genes [binding immunoglobulin protein (BIP), inositol-requiring kinase 2α (eIF2α), C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) and protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK)] by inhibiting the phosphorylation of c-Jun N-kinase (JNK) pathway [77].
