In 52 liver cirrhosis patients (trial “Prognostic biomarkers for acute kidney injury in liver cirrhosis”; NCT03156426), measurement of urine and serum levels of KIM-1, as well as urinary liver-type fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) and the protein/creatinine ratio, was used to evaluate their prognostic value for AKI occurrence or worsening. Here, FABP1 is linked to acute kidney injury.
