The results of this study confirm and extend our previous findings of positive associations between DXA‐derived and anthropometric body fat measures and risk of breast cancer (overall and ER+) in postmenopausal women.18 Notably, the associations for whole body fat mass and trunk fat mass with risk of breast cancer (overall and ER+) persisted after additional adjustment for the anthropometric indices (BMI, WC, or WHR). This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and breast cancer.
