Using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), we next evaluated the effects of GC1 on gene expression of AGER (Advanced Glycosylation End-Product Specific Receptor, gene designation for RAGE), CD36, and Rho signaling mediators CDC42 (Cell Division Cycle 42), DIAPH1 (Rho-dependent Diaphanous Related Formin 1, gene designation for hDia1), RAC1 (Rac Family Small GTPase 1) and RHOA (Ras Homolog Family Member A) in VAT adipocytes from obese DM and NDM subjects. Here, RAC1 is linked to neonatal diabetes mellitus.
