Although the analysis of T cells from patients with SLE at a cellular and molecular level is challenging [12], the aim of this work is to examine the genetic basis of SLE by determining the expression levels of the genes IRF5, TLR7, MECP2, STAT4, and TNFSF4 in SLE patients and to compare their expression levels to those from healthy individuals. This evidence concerns the gene STAT4 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
