Although the etiology of SLE is still not completely understood, multiple factors including genetics (e.g., IRF5, TLR-7, MECP2, STAT4, and TNFSF4 genes), environmental, gender, and immunological factors such as cytokines and autoantibodies may play a role [1, 2]. This evidence concerns the gene STAT4 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
