Early preliminary researches have indicated that doxorubicin has TP53-dependent cell death response and TP53 mutantin could enhance chemosensitivity of doxorubicin in bladder cancer cells (Bilim et al., 2000; Chang & Lai, 2001), while gemcitabine is effective in bladder cell lines independent of TP53 status (Fechner et al., 2003). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and urinary bladder cancer.
