NPPB and hydrops fetalis: According to the current international and Dutch HF guidelines, GPs can use theplasma concentration of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro-brainnatriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) as an initial diagnostic test (Hoes etal., 2010; Yancy etal., 2013; Ponipowskiet al., 2016).Ponipowski et al. (2016)further recommend echocardiography to establish the diagnosis in patients withsuspected HF.
