In the present study, P450scc immunoreactivity in the spinal cord of CCI-operated mice was increased in GFAP-positive astrocytes, while there was no change in P450scc expression in NeuN-positive neurons, suggesting the possibility that the conversion of cholesterol to PREG catalyzed by P450scc is increased in GFAP-positive astrocytes following peripheral neuropathy. Here, GFAP is linked to peripheral neuropathy.
