DOT1L and di-methylated H3K79 were highly expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells and myofibroblasts in UUO kidneys and in in vitro cultures of these two types of cells; pharmacological inhibition of DOT1L with EPZ5676, a highly selective inhibitor of DOT1L, significantly reduced renal fibrosis (Liu et al., 2019). The gene discussed is DOT1L; the disease is renal fibrosis.
