Wang et al. (2019) showed that overexpression of EZH1 inhibited injury of cultured renal tubular cells (HK2) in response to aristolochic acid. Fujino and Hasebe (2016) demonstrated that histone H3K4 me3 levels were elevated in the podocytes of kidneys in patients with membranous nephropathy (Table 3) and mice treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS); treatment with siRNA specific to MLL3 (an H3K4 methyltransferase) ameliorated podocyte swelling, reduced proteinuria and improved renal function in mice treated with LPS. This evidence concerns the gene KMT2C and membranous glomerulonephritis.
