Decrease in a deubiquitinating enzyme, Uch-L1, has been shown to increase the amounts of BACE1 (β-secretase 1), which in turn causes a rise in the levels of Aβ, as has been shown with experiments using AD model mice (5xFAD Tg mice; Guglielmotto et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene BACE1 and Alzheimer disease.
