We previously reported that single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) −1195G>A (rs689466) in the COX-2 promoter region was associated with survival advantage in inoperable, locally advanced NSCLC treated with chemoradiation or radiation alone.7 Tumors carrying unfavorable −1195dupA genotypes were more resistant to radiation than those with the −1195GA or −1195GG genotypes, which might require more intensive treatment. This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
