People with poor mental health are reportedly at greater risk of cancer (Levine et al., 1978; Cohen et al., 2007), and mental health–related proteins, such as death domain–associated protein (DAXX) (Tang et al., 2014), dopamine D3 receptor (DRD3) (Castorina et al., 2010), and disrupted-in-schizophrenia-1 (DISC1) (Gao et al., 2016), have shown significant associations with cancer pathogenesis, progression, and prognosis. This evidence concerns the gene DAXX and cancer.
