The misfolded conformation dependent loss (MCDL) of NCoR initially identified in promyelocytic AML was later found to be involved in the pathogenesis of monocytic AML and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), suggesting that MCDL might act as fundamental oncogenic mechanism to activate oncogenic metabolic pathway linked to the growth and survival of tumor cells in various tissue subtypes (18–22). The gene discussed is NCOR1; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
