The strain from clinical mastitis Sa52 was the only isolate which harbored the erythromycin resistance genes, erm(A) and erm(B), and lacked dfrG. Erythromycin resistance is more commonly found in pig isolates in L2 compared to L1 and L3 (Sieber et al., 2018), which is in agreement with the location of Sa52 within L2 as the only bovine isolate. The gene discussed is ETV5; the disease is mastitis.
