Given the functional role of caspase-2 in DNA damage-induced cell death [7,8], we tested whether an increase in caspase-2 levels after knockdown of TRIM25 has a sensitizing effect on colorectal cancer cells towards drug-induced intrinsic apoptosis by monitoring cleavage of caspase-3 as the major effector caspase. The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is colorectal cancer.
