Here, phosphorylation of AKT was elevated in cholangiocarcinoma organoids under glucose-free condition, and inhibition of AKT phosphorylation by LY294002 led to a decrease of stemness and drug resistance, suggesting that enhancement of the stem cell phenotype in cancer cells under condition of glucose depletion requires AKT phosphorylation. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and cholangiocarcinoma.
