To determine whether the altered growth curves of Bmal1cKO animals were associated with changes in metabolic markers, we analyzed blood levels of glucose, insulin, glucagon, leptin, and corticosterone in the mutants and controls at 3, 6, and 12 months after TM treatment, corresponding to the onset of increased weight gain (i.e., pre‐obese stage), transient obesity and to the period in which bodyweight of mutant mice was indistinguishable from control animals, respectively. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
