Consistent with the oncogenic role in pancreatic carcinogenesis, our results indicated that in patients with pancreatic cancer, high levels of galectin-1 were significantly correlated with poor OS, as complements to some previous meta-analysis in solid tumors, demonstrating that higher expression of galectin-1 was associated with worse prognosis in cancers [52], though more excellently-designed large-sized prospective researches are needed in the future. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS1 and pancreatic neoplasm.
