Several studies have pinpointed those genes responsible for increased proliferation, invasion, progression or inhibition of apoptosis in CRC cells, including EGFR, RAS, RAF, Notch-1, Jagged-1, PIK3CA, PTEN, TGFBR2, TGFBR1, SMADs, AXIN and CTNNB1 [4–7]. The gene discussed is AXIN1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
