In neonatal rodent calvaria culture, osthole was shown to promote osteoblast proliferation and ALP activity, and to inhibit bone resorption by decreasing the formation, differentiation, and TRAcP activity of rat marrow osteoclasts, thus indicating that CM may have potential therapeutic benefits for the treatment of osteoporosis (Meng et al., 2004). This evidence concerns the gene ACP5 and osteoporosis.
