Constitutive STAT3 phosphorylation and activation are found in numerous cancer types including breast cancer.61 In addition, aberrant STAT3 activation contributes to breast cancer progression.62 We previously demonstrated that STAT3 knockdown by STAT3 siRNA causes survivin reduction and subsequent cell death in MDA‐MB‐231 TNBC cells.13 Wang et al63 reported that simvastatin inactivates STAT3 to cause cell cycle arrest in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and breast carcinoma.
