While others have observed higher HLA-B-restricted HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses than for HLA-A and -C [33], and there are known associations between certain HLA-B alleles and elite control of HIV infection [34], we found only a modest difference in the proportion of adaptations relevant to the different HLA loci with a higher proportion of adaptations relevant to HLA-B alleles than -C, but not -A. Here, CD8A is linked to HIV infectious disease.
