In 273 neutropenic febrile episodes, PCT levels were higher in bacteremia compared to those in non-bacteremia [0.44 (0.19–0.78) ng/mL vs. 0.20 (0.18–0.22) ng/mL, P = 0.001] whereas CRP levels were not significantly different between bacteremia and non-bacteremia [59.7 (41.7–84.5) mg/L vs. 69.5 (54.6–79.0) mg/L, P = 0.994] (Fig 2). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and bacterial infectious disease with sepsis.
