The Pulmonary Embolism Thrombolysis (PEITHO) trial was a randomized, double-blind trial that assessed the efficacy and safety of tenecteplase in normotensive patients with RV dysfunction/enlargement on echocardiography or CT, as well as myocardial injury as indicated by a positive test for cTnI or troponin T.21Compared with the 10% 30-day mortality in our study cohort, short-term death occurred infrequently in the trial's placebo arm (3.2%). The gene discussed is TNNI3; the disease is pulmonary embolism.
