In 2004, NC was defined as midline carcinoma with NUT rearrangement, also called NUT midline carcinoma, which was caused by NUT gene on chromosome 15 fused to BRD4 gene on chromosome 19 or other fusion partner genes, leading to the formation of BRD4-NUT fusion oncogene or NUT-variant fusion oncogene [8, 9]. This evidence concerns the gene NUTM1 and nevus comedonicus syndrome.
