ESR2 and neoplasm: Shifting the microenvironment of cells from estrogen-responsive breast tissue by addition of micoliter quantities of Ficus carica leaf extract produced minimal DNA damage relative to experimental controls, implicating its benefits in suppressing tumor cell transformation [65], a potential preference for ER-beta [66], and the well-established observation that a much weaker estrogenic effect is characteristic of phytoestrogens (Figure 5) [66].
