DRD3 and Parkinson disease: According to this notion, we and other authors have recently shown that genetic deficiency of DRD3, which displays the highest affinity for dopamine, attenuates neuroinflammation and the consequent neurodegeneration on a murine model of Parkinson’s disease induced by acute intoxication with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) [33, 34].
