Next, we utilized a gene expression data set of primary tumors or metastases from 83 unresectable CRC patients prior to chemotherapy [33] (GEO accession GDS4393 and GDS4396) to compare HEYL expression levels in primary tumors and metastatic lesions and detected a significantly higher expression of HEYL in metastatic lesions (p = 0.0003) (Fig. 1b).
