In a recent study by Apicella et al., lactate metabolism was found to be involved in the resistance to MET and EGFR TKIs (JNJ-605, crizotinib and erlotinib, respectively), in which patient-derived NSCLC showed upregulated glycolytic metabolism, with high release of lactate [224]. Here, EGFR is linked to non-small cell lung carcinoma.
