In humans, neuroimaging studies have reported lower52 or no change in radioligand binding to the dopamine transporter in drug naïve patients with schizophrenia.14,47,53–55 By contrast, one of these groups,56 and another study,57 found there were lower levels of radioligand binding to the striatal dopamine transporter in treated patients with schizophrenia.
