In addition, all HIV‐positive patients who died in the first 100 days after diagnosis had a pretreatment plasma EBV level ≥3.0 log10 copies/mL (Table 2, P = .0002), despite having similar CD4 counts at DLBCL diagnosis (198 ± 178 × 109/L in patients dying in <100 days vs 173 ± 154 × 109/L in patients living > 100 days, P = .83). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
