As alternative treatments, an antigen-nonspecific therapy (using monoclonal antibodies against T/B cells and low-dose IL-2 and cellular therapies) and an antigen-specific therapy (an autoantigen-based immunotherapy using insulin, insulin B peptide, proinsulin, or GAD) have been tested in clinical trials [4–7], but unfortunately, there is no cure for T1D, as of date [8].
