SIRT3 and ischemic stroke: In addition, it has been reported that SIRT3 regulates mitochondrial ceramide biosynthesis through the deacetylation of ceramide synthase (CerS) 1, 2 and 6 (Novgorodov et al., 2015), and the content of mitochondrial ceramide is closely related to mitochondrial dysfunction and ischemic stroke (Novgorodov and Gudz, 2011), suggesting that the role of SIRT3 in the nervous system remains controversial and needs further study.
