Although HPS3 expression has been detected predominantly in glomerular cell types and in particular in podocytes (Figs. 1B and 2), a reduced protein expression of HPS3KD induced with splice interfering and ATG blocking MO injection did not lead to severe yolk sac edema and pericardial effusion (Fig. 4A–C) and caused only mild podocyte effacement in TEM imaging (Fig. 5A). Here, HPS3 is linked to pericardial effusion.
