The inflammatory markers were chosen based on literature demonstrating that the cytokines IL-5, IL-4, and IL-13 are important regulators of type 2 inflammation in patients with CRSwNP and that IFN-γ is involved in non-type 2 inflammation, mostly seen in patients with CRSsNP (3). Here, IL5 is linked to chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps.
