Given the lack of effective early ICC diagnosis methods and the difficulty in distinguishing ICC from HCC in the early stages of the diseases, our results demonstrated that MFAP5 serological detection may be used as an effective method for early ICC diagnosis and for evaluating the efficiency of therapies; in turn, MFAP5 inhibition would likely be used as a treatment. This evidence concerns the gene MFAP5 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
