The discriminative ability of individual methylated promoters of adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) and retinoic acid receptor β2 (RARβ2) in classifying malignant and non-malignant controls yielded AUCs above 0.9400, and this outperformed traditional tumor markers (CEA and CA15-3) in identifying low-grade tumors, early-stage and triple-negative breast cancers [23]. The gene discussed is CEACAM5; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
