Interestingly, the tumor suppressive functions of miR‐23a have been reported in several types of cancers, including liver cancer.16, 17 For example, it was reported that berberine‐mediated antiproliferation and proapoptosis effects required miR‐23a expression in HCC cells.16 In this respect, investigation of miR‐23a and CCL22 relationship may provide a novel strategy for anticancer therapy, yet it has not been studied in HCC. The gene discussed is CCL22; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
