This hypermethylation pattern occurs in a multitude of both pediatric and adult cancer types, including neuroblastoma, medulloblastoma, prostate, gastric, esophageal, cervical, and colorectal cancer, but the precise mechanisms by which TERT promoter methylation regulates TERT expression are still under investigation and suggested to be tissue/cell-type-specific [93,128,129,130,131,132,133,134]. This evidence concerns the gene TERT and medulloblastoma.
