In the Argentinian cohort (Table 6), the frequency of the T allele, in IL18 rs1946518, was increased in asymptomatic compared to chronic Chagas cardiomyopathy patients, and remained borderline significant for suggesting an association with the protection against the development of Chagas cardiomyopathy (P = 0.078, OR = 0.67, CI = 0.44–1.04). This evidence concerns the gene IL18 and Chagas cardiomyopathy.
