Interestingly, the expression of FOXP3, CTLA-4, and GATA-3 in Treg cells were increased in children with IgE sensitization who did not develop clinical allergy, which suggests that a transcriptional signature supporting Treg suppression activity, i.e., FOXP3 and CTLA-4, could provide homeostasis despite of up-regulation of Th2 transcription factor GATA-3 in Treg cells (59). This evidence concerns the gene FOXP3 and allergic disease.
