Strong expression of MYC mRNA visualized as punctate red dot signals was detected in BL cases characterized by a marked expression of MYC protein by immunohistochemistry (Fig. 1a), whereas the cases with the absence of MYC protein showed a heterogeneous staining for MYC mRNA with few cases being almost completely negative (Fig. 1b). The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is Burkitt lymphoma.
