It has been reported that overexpression of VGLL4 in gastric cancer can increase the expression level of E-cadherin and decrease the expression level of β-catenin, indicating that VGLL4 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in gastric cancer cells in part by negatively regulating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway30.
